General Questions

  • Bikablo® is a simple, structured visualization technique. It was created over 15 years ago in Cologne, Germany. The word bikablo is actually a combination of three German words; builder, karten & block. Loosely translated into English, it means picture, card, pad, which are the company's origins, — a set of simple icon cards. Bikablo is a pioneer in the development of visual and visual facilitation.

  • Nope, no artistic skills are needed. If you can write the alphabet, you can easily learn this technique.

  • For in-person sessions, all the materials will be provided. For online sessions you will need paper and a black pen or marker and colored pens or markers. Additional details will be provided in your registration confirmation.

  • This is a tricky question, as there are many variables. It depends on your experience coming into the session, and your willingness/ability to practice. You’ll learn tons of tips and ideas to fast-track your skill development.

  • The training is focused on analog work, meaning a pen and paper. We tend to encourage most people to start with a pen and paper and then when they are comfortable transition to digital tools. Technology has come a long way in this space, but it’s still not the same as pen and paper. For those who are new to visualization it also simplifies learning as you are not layering on additional skills needed to use and navigate different apps or software.

  • This training is designed to teach you the bikablo® visualization technique so that you can use it in your work, apply, adapt, and expand it. However, when participating in one of our training sessions, you don’t acquire the right to make commercial use of our training concept or redistribute the bikablo® visualization technique.

To us, “training concept” means the following:

    • The methodology, didactics, and dramaturgy of the training, the overall composition of input phases and learning steps.

    • The bikablo visualization technique, i.e., how we create figures, containers and pictograms from certain basic shapes, shading, use of colour, the systematic use of “visual vocabulary” and poster layouts.

  • Online training is delivered over Zoom.

  • Schedules change — I get it. You may transfer your registration to a colleague or friend at any time for no charge, as long as they attend the same workshop for which you were registered. You may also cancel your registration. Cancellations and transfers are subject to the stipulations detailed below.

    • A full refund (minus processing fees) will be issued if you cancel your registration at least 15 working days before the event start date.

    • 10-14 working days or more prior to workshop start date 50% — refund less the costs of refund processing.

    • 0-9 working days or less prior to workshop start date — no refund.

    TRANSFER POLICY

You may transfer your registration to a colleague or friend at any time for the same workshop on the same date at no cost as long as you notify me of the change.

I reserve the right to postpone or cancel this course if there’s insufficient registrations. If this is the case, you’ll hear from me via email five working days before the course start date. In this case, you can choose an alternative date or a full refund. You’re responsible for any other costs incurred.

  • You can pay via credit card (American Express, MasterCard or Visa) using Eventbrite or you can arrange payment by e-transfer.

Thought Sketching

  • Many people sign-up for my bikablo basic course which is a 1 or 2 day program. This builds your fundamental skills in visualization and visual thinking.

  • Thought sketching is a short 90-120 minute session, whereas bikablo basics is a full one or two day training program. In bikablo basics, we work exclusively on a large scale at the wall to build experience working on a flipchart or poster, sometimes referred to as “visual recording/facilitation” or “graphic recording/facilitation.”
